Top 10 South Indian Actresses of 2017

South-Indian film industry is believed to be much more advanced than Bollywood, be it in terms of production or screenplay. We bring you few of the hottest south-Indian actresses who have left benchmarks and added glamour to the screen and have been in the most successful list of 2014.

Anushka Shetty:

Anushka Shetty rose to fame following her performance in Vikramarkudu before foraying into Tamil cinema. She received high critical acclaim for her portrayal of the titular character in Arundhati and Vedam. After starring in the Tamil blockbuster Singam, she became one of South India’s most leading actresses. Her latest release is the Tamil film Lingaa opposite Rajinikanth, released in December 2014.

It is hard to believe that the cute lil’ kid of Koi Mil Gaya is a sex symbol now, in south India. Hansika began her acting career with television first: with a serial called Shaka Laka Boom Boom. She also acted in the serial Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand for which she received the Favorite Child Award at the Star Parivaar Awards. She made her film debut as a leading actress in the Telugu movie Desamuduru, winning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut- South. Her first 2014 release was the Telugu comedy film Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda and her first Tamil release was the fantasy film Maan Karate with Sivakarthikeyan which became a “Hit” at box office. Her other two releases in 2014 were also successful.

Southern hottie Priyamani, earned a National Film Award for Best Actress for her role as Muththazhagu in the 2006 Tamil film Paruthi Veeran and a Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her role as Malavika in the 2008 Malayalam film Thirakkatha. She has also appeared in Kannada films like Raam, Ko Ko, Anna Bond and Only Vishnuvardhana. Alice: A True Story, Njangalude Veettile Athidhikal and Ambareesha were among her successful films in 2014.

Shruti Haasan is multi-talented. She is a south-Indian actress, singer and music composer. She made her adult acting debut in the 2009 action drama, Luck. She later went on to win critical acclaim for her role in the Walt Disney fantasy film, Anaganaga O Dheerudu, Oh My Friend and 7aam Arivu. In 2012, she starred in Gabbar Singh, Telugu remake of Dabangg which also was her first hit as an actress.Yevadu, Race Gurram,  Poojai were her successful 2014 releases.

Shriya Saran:

The talented actress of the south, Shriya Saran has a magnetic personality that comes across on the screen. Saran made her film debut in 2001 with the Telugu film Ishtam, and had her first commercial success with Santhosham. In 2007, Saran starred in Sivaji: The Boss. She also gained critical acclaim for her role in the 2007 Bollywood film Awarapan. Her films, Chandra and Manam were box office successes of 2014.

Nayanthara:

Nayanthara made her acting debut in the 2003 Malayalam film Manassinakkare and followed with the successful Vismayathumbathu before foraying into Tamil and Telugu cinema. She went on to appear in the commercially successful Ghajini and made her mark with Billa. Today, she is one of the most sought after actresses in Tamil cinema. She was known for her roles in Anaamika, Nee Enge En Anbe, Idhu Kathirvelan Kadhal in 2014.

Kajal Agarwal:

Kajal Agarwal made her debut in the 2004 Bollywood flick Kyun…! Ho Gaya Na after which she made a foray into the Telugu film industry through the film Lakshmi Kalyanam. She had her first commercial success with Chandamama and rose to prominence after her performance in Magadheera. She made a comeback in Bollywood with Singham which was a blockbuster while her next film Special 26 was also declared a box-office success. She acted in Jilla, Govindudu Andarivadele in 2014.

Trisha:

Trisha was seen in her career best performances in Abhiyum Naanum and Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. Alice: A True Story, Njangalude Veettile Athidhikal and Ambareesha were among her successful films. Kannada film Power was her big release in 2014.

Tapsee Pannu made her acting debut with the 2010 Telugu film Jhummandi Naadam directed by Raghavendra Rao. Since then, she has appeared in a number of critically acclaimed films such as Aadukalam, Vastadu Naa Raju, Mr. Perfect, and Vandhaan Vendraan. Her Tamil film Aadukalam enjoyed commercial success. She made her Bollywood debut with David Dhawan’s Chashme Baddoor.  She was awarded Most Enthusiastic Performer-Female Award at the 2014 Edison Awards for her performance in Arrambam.

With the blockbusters Rachcha and Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu , she established herself as one of Tollywood’s leading contemporary actresses.  Veeram, Alludu Sreenu and Aagadu were her big south releases in 2014. -wonderwoman
