For this new season Manish commences the collections through a metaphoric and physical play on the skin tones of the world, where the blacks, the whites and the browns form a universal trinity in the nude.
He then takes us along an exciting journey where he infuses his trademark playfulness into the collection with the addition of iridescent and bright florescent accents like never seen before that breathe energy into the nude tones. The collection presents itself as a fascinating expedition that introduces an amalgamation of the Futuristic with the Reminiscent.
He takes inspiration from the joie de vivre of the 60’s decade with the silhouettes flowing into easy and relaxed shapes with a pleasant mix of blousons, tents and semi fits where the boundaries are blurred to reveal a futuristic note. The mini and flare skirts, well tailored jackets, innovative tent dresses, raised neck tops, pleated overlap trousers and acidic denims echo the joy of the ingenuous era.
The collection’s strength lies in the detailed experimentation carried out meticulously across all the garments through various techniques that work their magic on the neutral color palette. The collection has a futuristic note consisting of embroideries such as Iridescent patchwork , 3-D black/white swirls, florescent 3-D wire work juxtaposed seamlessly to a reminiscent tone with embroideries such as the traditional cross-stitch , hippie fringes , frayed edges and swish feathers.
The prints form an essential backdrop to the collection such as the Happy People Print by iconic photographer Robert Altman that rejoices the unity in the different colors of the world. Photographed at the Holy Jam Festival in Colorado 1970 this picture takes us back on a voyage to the illusionary chapter of cultural history.
A special attention has been made to the details in quality of fit, finishing and hand embroideries to deliver a collection that is luxurious and extremely modern.
The collaboration with MAC Make Up perfectly complements the nude tone of the garments and helps to tie the collection as a whole. The jeans are designed in collaboration with Notify, Paris with exclusively developed exquisite embroideries using a range of techniques and colors.
The shoes are made in collaboration with Nicolas Kirkwood and Pollini with embroideries designed by Manish.
