Deepika Padukone has mostly had Fate smiling on her, thanks to her numerous hits over the years. From her debut with Om Shanti Om, alongside Shah Rukh Khan, to the recently-released Happy New Year, Padukone has carved a name for herself in the Hindi film industry these days.

However, there are a few films that the leggy lass turned down, owing to date clashes at times, and unknown-to-the-public reasons at others. We bring to you eight films that deepika Padukone had rejected.
Deepika Padukone chose Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani over Shuddhi. And her veiled caustic comments on the film ended up rubbing Karan Johar the wrong way. Given the fact that Shuddhi is still tangled in production issues and that Bajirao Mastani is already on floors, seems like Dippy’s decision to star in the latter was not a bad one, after all.
Deepika Padukone had once expressed the desire to work with Salman Khan. However, when opportunity knocked on her door, donning the garb of an offer to work opposite Salman Khan in Sultan, Padukone turned it down.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan:
Sure it had Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika’s much-loved co-star as the lead in Yash Chopra’s swan song, but Deepika had rejected this, too. Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma finally ended up as the actresses opposite to SRK in the film.
Fast & Furious 7:
Landing a Hollywood role is every B-Town diva’s dream. Not this one’s, though. When the chance to feature in Fast & Furios 7 came to Deepika, she ruled in the favour of Ram-Leela. And we don’t really need to dissect the results of that choice of hers!
Katrina Kaif’s role in Dhoom 3 had initially been offered to Deepika. The actress, however, declined this, too. Among the Khan Triumvirate, Deepika has chosen to stick to only Shah Rukh till now, rejecting offers across both Salman and Aamir. However, given the fact that Dhoom 3 turned out to be a film starring Aamir Khan and Aamir Khan, and Katrina relegated to the background, Deepika seems to have made a wise decision.
Deepika’s much-talked-about on-screen reunion with Ranbir Kapoor in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani couldn’t manage to make her sign the dotted line along with her ex again. The actress turned down Roy, and her rejection turned into Jacqueline Fernandez’s gain, who was cast opposite to Ranbir in the film.

Padukone’s kick to an item song in Salman Khan’s Kick happened when the actress was busy preparing for the number ‘Lovely’ from Happy New Year. The film went on to rake in good amount of money with Salman and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead roles.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo:
When you spend most of your career in Bollywood making appearances romancing Shah Rukh Khan on screen, there’s probably hardly anything that can work against you. So seems the case with Deepika. Apart from Sultan and an item song in Kick, Deepika ended up rejecting Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, too. And yes, this too, stars Salman Khan in the lead.
