Manish Malhotra Indian Fashion Designer Talking about the Indian Fashion Industry, it is impossible to miss a name who has been such a great contribution to it and that name would be Manish Malhotra’s.

It is only Manish’s hard work and devotion that has led him to such fame and recognition not only in India but on Global platform. Manish is known for his brilliant style sense and how he transforms an ordinary look into a glamorous one. He has the ability to make anything at all appealing to the eyes.

Manish has always been interested in designing since his childhood as he started off by commenting on his mother’s dressing sense occasionally and trying to make her dress up the way he wanted her to be. This aroused a strong desire in him to pursue fashion designing as a profession. However, Manish’s father wanted him to join the family business but Manish’s plans for his future differed from the one his father had for him.

After graduating from Elphinstone College in Mumbai, Manish initiated his career as a professional model then later he joined a fashion store called Equinox where he proved himself as a fully devoted employee with his skills. Manish then joined the industry in 1990 by designing for Juhi Chawla in the film Swarg. The real breakthrough in his career was when he dressed Urmila Matondkar in Rangeela. This day onwards this young man never looked back as he succeeded with leaps and bounds, working with the finest actresses and socialites of the Indian Industry.

Manish Malhotra has worked with numerous actresses including Kajol for Fanaa, Kareena Kapoor for Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham, Rani Mukherji and Priety Zinta for Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Madhuri Dixit for Aaja Nachle and the list goes on.

He has also designed for Michael Jackson during his visit to India which gave him global recognition and appreciation. Manish has earned many awards for his magnificent performance as a designer such as:

  • Filmfare Award for costume design in Rangeela
  • Stylish Designer of the Year at the Elle Style Awards in 1999
  • Zee Cine Award for Best Costume Design
  • Bollywood Award for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
