Indian designers win the World Fashion Designer Award

Designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock has gained international acclaim for being favoured by style icons like Jessie J, Rita Ora, Paris Hilton and Katy Perry. Adding to the laurels of the husband-wife duo is the World Designer Fashion Award at the 64th Miss World Beauty Pageant.

Falguni and Shane PeacockThey won top honours for a stunning gown that Indian beauty queen Koyal Rana (Miss World India 2014) wore for the contest. They created a bustier gown with a thigh high slit and sequins in metallic shades of silver, gold and copper. “It has a lot of 3D embellishments, the cut was flattering and in our signature style. Koyal looks splendid. It was worth the effort getting the outfit ready,” says Falguni.

Adds Shane, “Koyal wore our outfit with immense confidence and looked really sexy in it. We received such tremendous response for her outfit that we are creating several pieces inspired from the award-winning outfit.”

The designers were competing against 125 other nations including USA, UK, France and Italy. They are on a winning spree. Last year, they were honoured with the Pride of India award at the House of Lords in London. They’ve been grabbing the attention of celebrities from Hollywood to Bollywood. Recently, they had pop stars Lady Gaga and Iggy Azalea wear their SS15 collection straight off the runway.

Following the design philosophy that ‘life is too short to blend in’, the designers have made their mark not only nationally, but internationally as well. They excel in creating something edgy and experimental, be it couture or pret and showcase their western collection annually at New York Fashion Week and retail across USA, Europe, Middle East and South East Asia. They also showcase their bridal line at a bridal week in Mumbai.

The designers’ collection is available at their standalone store in Mumbai and Delhi in India. They’re also in the process of launching in New York, of diversifying into other product categories apart from clothing and launching pret stores across India.
