Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor at India Resort Fashion Week 2012

Bipasha Basu with designers Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor IRFW 2012There was elegance, there was style and there was drama in the very opulent “Mughal Opera Collection” presented by Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor at the India Resort Fashion Week 2012.

The languid shapes highlighted by the beautiful Mughal and Jamavaar prints and metallic embroidery were turned into an exotic collection of high waist skirts, ruffled tops, elegant shift dresses and draped gowns.

Using muted shades of nude, cream with bursts of gold and dazzling colours, the creations were crafted in silk jersey as well as chiffon for that stylish sophisticated entry at any global event.

Drapes added to the feminine charm of the ensembles, while the flying angel digital prints brought resort wear to centre stage with distinct statement touches.

Opening the show with a stunning red moulded draped wrap-around crepe toga gown, the two toned dramatic beauties in shades of electric/emerald; orange/red and blue/fuchsia started the rise of the fashion quotient.

The print story that followed was a study in gorgeous colours with digital versions at their best for the balloon skirt mini, the tulip warp- dress, the will-power long tube and the kaftan with prints of flying angels. The rose motif was the cynosure of all eyes as the intricate prints for gowns and dresses dazzled the audience.

Moving into a shaded abstract look and then Jamavaar prints for tubes or large floral swirls for maxis, the designing couple offered a feast for the eyes. The black and white royal Mughal jewellery inspired print gave the batwing kaftan a new dimension, while the elegant lean gowns with hints of glitter on the hips, to highlight the belt prints was an interesting addition.

Knee length mini shifts, gleamed under the ramp lights with tasselled hemlines in gold/silver with rich pearl, crystal, sequin embroidery while the paisley and entwining motifs gave the creations that haute couture touch.

The final line up of silver/gold lamé lungi gowns, the shaded pink and white creation with sarong drape sporting an ornate bodice and the pale grey/silver beauty with a high slit skirt were amazing draped wonders.

The beautiful footwear by Lord’s from their “Relaxed Chic” collection was the ideal choice for an haute couture line.

For that perfect end to a glamorous show, Anjalee and Arjun selected the absolutely gorgeous Bollywood beauty, Bipasha Basu who glided down the catwalk looking radiant in a gold moulded corset draped lace gown with an ornate one-shoulder crystal motif.

The Mughal Opera Collection” was a luxury cruise line that will make waves from Goa to Granada and from Miami to Manila with its sizzling opulent creativity from the design boards of Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor.
