Statements – by Forum & Raina showcased their very first collection at the Indian International Jewellery Show at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai on 14th July 2014. A refreshing touch was added to the ramp when the collection of Statements-by Forum & Raina showcased their 4 collections.
As the first model sashayed out, delicately adorned with jewels from the Canvas of Nature Collection, we knew this brand was different. The collection included a chic headgear, catchy long earrings which glided slightly below the bossom, and bracelet that was very hard to miss! These pieces were created with gold and antique chains which depicted twigs and branches, blue shell pearls which gave the pieces a touch of shades of sea and sky, and flower-shaped pearls that signified flora and fauna.
Next came quite a bold look, and obviously so because it belonged to the Feminine Ferocity Collection! A chunky necklace with a mesh of elements of Green Tiger’s Eye, Dumortierites, carved Amber, and entangled chains. The combination of green, blue, and yellow-brown was a perfect illustration of the theme! Another eye-catching piece was the anklet worn by the same model, which was made of the same stones and chain, an added twist to it, though, was a Gladiator-style chord wrapped above the anklet to give it a very raw look!
What came next was a complete dazzle! The Haute Couture was haute indeed! A shrug made of simple chains and green Duplets was designed keeping great aesthetics in mind. Worn on a tube dress, the “jewellery shrug” and matching earrings made a big Statement on its own! It started around the neck and went down the two shoulders, reaching the elbows and continued to the mid-back!
Last of their collection was called “Bayaan-E-Zamani”, which is inspired from the confluence of Mughal and Rajputana cultures. As you may have guessed, it comprises of traditional jewellery. The model looked like a modern Maharani, draped with lots of jewellery. She did justice to the basic traditional Rani Haar-type necklace with matching earrings, which had offbeat elements to it. Her hand was adorned with a “haath panja” that had a beautiful Kundan and pearl ganthan work, with a Rose motif on the wrist. However, what actually stole the show was a brooch worn on her left, which made a round below the necklace, going up on the right side, pausing at the earrings which were a part of this piece, and continuing onto the head as a side motif!
To sum up their name, Statements, came the much loved, well-known Miss India International 2004 Mihika Varma, who is also a famous TV star! She dazzled the stage with a multi-strand Fresh Water Pearl necklace that had hints of swarovski embedded Lapis Lazuli beads on one side and a pearl and Lapis Lazuli motif on the other. Her wrist borne the same elements that were fused into a multi-strand bracelet that continued down to hang loosely in separate strands!
