Verandah by Anjali showcased her ‘Urban Islands’ collection inspired by the bohemian glamour of the 1970s and languid summers spent between city and island life at Lakme Fashion Week 2015.
Verandah by Anjali, introduced her Prive collection inspired by the bohemian glamour of the 1970s and languid summers spent between city and island life. “Urban Islands” evokes a sense of relaxed glamour for the chic traveller through each piece.
The geometry of urban cities, island flowers in full bloom, the sun and sea, form the foundation of the custom print reflected throughout the collection in tones of whites, soft blues and a hint of coral.
The collection curates a range of silhouettes that are created for the holiday season, chic and versatile with a relaxed vibe, ensuring every piece takes you from day to night. Bringing out your inner flower child, Anjali has played with the magic of the native american dreamcatcher, adopted by a number of nations in the 70’s as a symbol of unity and good thoughts.

The detailing on denim, the custom print on neoprene and georgette coupled with easy solids and summer metallics for the season in soft easy to wear cuts lends an easy wearability to the collection. A play on print combined with soft stark neutral separates lends a perfect switch from am to pm. With an unapologetic love for shine, colour and print coupled with feminine simplicity, an easy sense of movement in versatile silhouettes marks our collection.
As the lights dimmed and the music got louder, the roar of cheers for Verandah by Anjali soared. Spotted eyeing the new collection from the front row were: Shobha De, Avantika Kilachand, Karla Bookman, Priya Nathani amongst others. Walking the ramp with grace and oomph was Carol Gracias as the showstopper.
