After years of juggling laptops with names such as the Vaio S, Vaio Z, and Vaio E, Sony is starting to simplify its lineup with the newly announced Vaio Fit line.

The Fit laptops appear to be Sony’s new mainstream line, and the company says they are for “students and business users who are looking for a step up and want more of a premium design but still at an entry-level price point.”

In person, the Vaio Fit 14 (reviewed here) looks very upscale for an inexpensive laptop, with the model we reviewed coming in at $649. That includes an aluminum body, a touch screen, and a display resolution of 1,600×900 pixels, which is a nice step up from the budget/midprice standard of 1,366×768. Adding an NFC chip for device communication is also a surprising high-end extra.

A 15-inch version of the Vaio Fit trades up to a full 1080p display for $699, while a less-expensive offshoot, called the Fit E, drops back to a 1,366×768 screen at $547 and $579 for the 14- and 15-inch models, respectively. Yes, this may be an example of simplifying your product lineup, and then immediately making it more complicated again.

Some existing Vaio laptops are getting updates. These include the L-series all-in-one, with Sony’s Bravia Engine X-Reality chip, which now includes larger hard-drive options up to 3TB; the 15-inch T-series ultrabook; and the all-in-one/tabletop tablet Tap 20, which now includes Intel WiDi for beaming a video signal to a TV via a sold-separately receiver box and Sony Imagination Studio multimedia software.The Vaio Fit 14 and 15, Fit E 14 and 15, and refreshed Vaio L, Tap 20, and T15 will all be available mid-May. – CNET

Samsung is a well reputed company known for its quality gadgets. But the revolutionary launch of Samsung ES9500 OLED TV has just shaken the market competitors with its remarkable features.

Samsung ES9500 OLED TV is a 55-inch smart OLED TV that promises remote control, voice control, gesture control and face recognition (it includes a camera). It features a Smart Evolution upgradeable dual-core CPU. The color reproduction is told to be 20% better as compared to LED LCDs by Samsung.

Samsung ES9500 OLED TV has also built in Smart Dual View technology which lets users watch two different programs (2D) on one screen at the same time using the set’s 3D glasses and sound fed through headphones. Samsung ES9500 OLED TV and LG’S 55EM9600 are reported to be the first big screen OLED TVs to enter mass production.

Samsung has not announced the pricing officially yet, but the estimated price will probably be $8,700. Samsung ES9500 OLED TV is expected to be in the market during second half of 2012.

Samsung ES9500 OLED TV has a 0.3-inch depth, which is about one third of the skinniest ever LED TVs, but still nearly doubles that of the LG’s 0.157-inch (4mm) depth.

Android tablets are taking over. There are so many companies which are taking out their range of tablets. These tablets vary in price and specifications. Tablets are great gadgets because of their portability factor.

One can carry them around simply everywhere that they go.

Kobo Vox is also an android based tablet which is relatively cheaper than the rest. It has a memory capacity of 8 GB but it also has an option of extending memory if one needs to. The design of this tablet is very decent. E-reading applications and e-book store options are built in. Free applications from Getjar can also be downloaded.

There are glitches in this gadget as well such as books downloading are not very fast. The battery life is just ok. The Kob Vox also does not open to the entire android market which limits it. Kobo Vox is good for its price but you can’t recommend it over the Kindle Fire because the price of Kindle Fire is the same as Kobo Vox but with better specifications.

HTC is doing a great job in the market where android phones are concerned. HTC One S is also one of their handsets which is very sleek and has a great camera.

The glitch is that this handset does not come with an expandable memory option which limits it. HTC One S is a good phone that you can buy and the screen is really good and it is 4.3 inch. It has 4G data speeds which give it an edge.

HTC phones are very reliable and have a cool interface.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus has also joined the family of Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The speed is amazing of Verizon’s LTE Network. The screen of this phone is beautiful and the internal speed and everything is one of the best that users can get.

The only bad part about Samsung Galaxy Nexus is that there is no slot available for expandable memory which could be a problem for users who want to save a lot of pictures and files on their phones. The 5 megapixel camera in this handset is honestly not the best that Samsung has to offer. The set also does not support Google Wallet. Also several features in the Ice Cream Sandwich take some time to get used to.

The bottom line is that it is the first US handset that has to offer the Ice Cream Sandwich. It is a good step forward that Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy Nexus has taken forward. But where this phone lacks is that when other handsets also receive the updated OS then this handset may not stand out. Once other handsets come out with similar OS Samsung Galaxy may lose its competition.

But all in all it is a beautiful looking handset and it performs really well.
