- 2 half chicken
- 1tsp of fresh salt
- 2tbsps of brown sugar
- 4 cloves of grated garlic
- 2tbsps of freshly grated ginger
- ½ cup of soya sauce
- 2tbsps of sake
- 2tsps of tobanjan; a red paste made out of chilies and soya beans
It takes 10 minutes to prepare this dish and 35 minutes to cook this dish to perfection.
Step 1: In a large bowl mix together the soya sauce, sake, ginger, garlic, tobanjan, brown sugar, salt to make your marinade for the chicken.
Step 2: Take half to most of this mixture in a large and extensive tray. Spread the mixture roughly out and on it place your chicken. By repeatedly flipping the chicken a few times coat it from top to the bottom thoroughly with the marinade. [contentblock id=2 img=adsense.png]
Step 3: With your hands or with a spatula make sure the chicken is totally covered. Marinate this chicken roughly for 10 minutes turning it just once.
Step 4: Preheat your grill to a medium heat. Grill the chicken for 35 minutes; make sure it is covered while being grilled. Start the grilling of your chicken with the skin side of the chicken being down. Keep it this way for 2 minutes. Flip the chicken and as you do brush it with the remaining marinade.
Step 5: Keep flipping the chicken to each side every 5-7 minutes, brush it with the marinade with each flip. Keep doing so till juicy.

Step 6: Rest the chicken for 5 minutes and then serve.
