Ekta Kapoor’s latest offering Kasam replaces her much-loved show, Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi, which was famous for the passionate love of Ranveer (Shakti Arora) and Ishaani (Radhika Madan). There are a couple of similarities between the two shows. Here too, duo is true friends since childhood, and one of them is financially better off than the other.
The only difference is, in MATSH, the relationship was forged on earth, in Kasam, there is a lot of planetary intervention. Yes, the guy is cursed with a bad astrological chart (even Ritik had similar problem in Naagin) and the girl is going to be his shield. Today, we only saw the two children trying to fathom love after watching a Heer Ranjha drama and the actual action will begin tomorrow. Performance-wise, we cannot comment on the leads as we only saw the kids today. Vibha Chibber is dependable as always as Rishi’s (Ssharad Malhotraa) mother.
In today’s episode, Jyoti Gauba, who plays Kratika Sengar’s mother sounded a lot like Farida Jalal talking about love in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. The locales are pleasing and a lot of effort has been taken to create a robust Punjabi flavor. In a gist, Kasam is a story of two star-crossed lovers, one of whom takes rebirth to reunite with her lover. There is buzz that Ssharad Malhotra has a power-packed role in the show but we will see his acting chops a little later. With a bit of innocence, rural setting and a lot of religious connotations, the first episode asserts that Kasam is not exactly for an urban audience.
