Happy New Year Earns Rs.109 Cr in Opening Weekend, Breaks All Records

It is indeed 100-cr plus for Happy New Year within 60 hours. The 2014 Diwali release had a record breaking opening weekend as it broke into 100-cr club within three days. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Farah Khan’s multi-starrer Happy New Year had a record-breaking opening weekend in India with Rs 108.86 crore in its pocket.

The Shah Rukhj Khan and Deepika Padukone-starrer comedy earned Rs.104.10 cr in Hindi,  Rs.2.92 cr in Telugu and Rs.1.84 in Tamil. Grand total: Rs.108.86 cr.

With the given figure, Shah Rukh Khan becomes the first superstar to pocket 100-cr in three days, leaving the rest two Khans, way behind him.

The film had already broken opening day records previously set by Aamir and Salman, by raking in Rs.45 crore on opening day, October 24.

Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, audiences flocked to the theatres to catch the film. HNY’s record breaking Rs.45 cr opening Happy New Year stars an ensemble cast that includes Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah, apart from SRK.
