“She is looking out of this world in her role as Rani Padmini. Right from her facial look to her dress to the way she walks, everything looked royal about her. She is looking like a vision of beauty in the film. So slim and yet so graceful,” informed a close unit hand. Deepika has already stated that the film will be very difficult to shoot considering the challenges that a period film poses for an actor. The role of her husband in the film will be essayed by Shahid Kapoor who plays Raja Ratan Singh of Mewar. The song that kickstarted the fil’s shooting today is a folk number connected to the land of Chittor in Rajasthan, the place where Rani Padmini hailed from.

Known for his eye for perfection and extravagant elegance, Bhansali had a large number of background dancers and junior artistes taking part in the shoot today. “Such is Sanjay sir’s quest for perfection that he got new clothes stitched for all background dancers and artistes as well,” informed a source.  To make sure no pictures are leaked from the sets, Bhansali has implemented a strict no cell phone policy on the sets. Earlier in the afternoon, Bhansali and Deepika hosted Shah Rukh Khan and Alia on their sets after the Dear Zindagi actors who were promoting their film in the vicinity dropped by to meet and greet the cast and crew of Padmavati.
