Did you know Anushka isn’t her real name? The diva who was born in Manglore, Karnataka in 1981 was originally named Sweety by her family. But down the road, Sweetu (as adressed by her family) chose Anushka as her stage name. A traditional Tuluva, Anushka hails from the Bellipady Uramalu Gathu family.
Not a lot of people know, but Anushka completed her graduation from Bengaluru’s Mount Carmel College. She pursued her education in Bachelor of Computer Appliances.
Before taking up to modeling and acting, Anushka had learnt yoga for around 10 years under Bharat Thakur and eventually went on to become a yoga instructor. Anushka’s yoga aspirations took a backseat once she entered the world of glitz and glamour.
Anushka made her debut with Super in 2005 where she went on to win the Filmfare Award for the Best Actress in a supporting role. But it was only in 2006 that Anushka got to taste success like never before. As the female lead for SS Rajamouli’s Vikramrkadu that become a commercial success.
