Urmila Matondkar is an Indian actress popular in bollywood films. She has made her screen debut as a child artist in the 1980 film Kalyug and debuted as an adult in Narasimha, 1991. She became popular with the 1995 movie “Rangeela”. She was known for her intense style and dancing skills. For her performance in the movie “Bhoot”, she has won her first Filmfare Award in the Best Actress (Critics) category.
Urmila Matondkar was born on 4 February 1974, in Mumbai. She has completed her education from Pune University. She is still known for her sizzling personality and her stunning looks. Urmila is recognized as one of the Bollywood’s most versatile actresses. After Sridevi, she is well known for playing the most varied characters next to fellow actresses like Tabu and Mahima Chaudhry.
Urmila Matondkar’s first role as a child artist was in 1981 with the movie “Kalyug” and she achieved success at the age of 9 in Shekhar Kapur’s Masoom in 1983. She made her adult debut as an actress with the film “Bade Ghar Ki Beti”. She next starred in the fantasy film Chamatkar, along with Shahrukh Khan. Her first film with the film director Ram Gopal Verma was Antham (Telugu), which was a bilingual film and was titled as “Drohi” (Hindi).
She came into limelight for the movie Rangeela opposite Aamir Khan and Jackie Shroff. Urmila’s performance in Judaai earned her a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award nomination. In 2011, she was seen as one of the judges on the dance reality show named Chak Dhoom Dhoom on Colors channel, along with Javed Jaffrey and Terence Lewis. In 2012, she stated her comeback with an animated Hindi feature film “Delhi Safari”.
Again in 2012 she was seen as the judge on a Marathi dance reality show “Dance Maharashtra Dance” on Zee Marathi. Urmila is not dating anyone. When asked about her marriage she said, “There is no one that I would like to marry. I will just get the wedding cards printed and let my family and friends fill any name they like for the bridegroom.”
