Art’ initiative with First Ever Solo Exhibit by Rohan Shreshtha


Diesel India hosted the first projection photography exhibit by celebrity photographer Rohan Shrestha, curated by Ambika Hinduja Macker, at their Juhu flagship store in Mumbai as a part of its Diesel + Art initiative.

The launch event (on Feb 6th 2016) was attended by celebrities, corporate honchos, social influencers and eminent art lovers. Among others, were present Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Kriti Sanon, Aditi Rao Hydari, Hinduja Family, Arjun & Mehr Rampal, Rajkumar Rao, Arjun Kapoor, Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla, Kunal Rawal, Anupam Kher, Esha Gupta, Athiya Shetty and many more to support the artist and the Diesel + Art non-profitable initiative, where 10% of the exhibit sales goes to Ummeed, a charitable organization working with disabled children.

DIESEL + ART is a unique global property that celebrates art as a forever intertwined facet of fashion. It aims to promote the experience of art on an ongoing basis by showcasing the bright young supernovas of tomorrow with but one prerequisite: only the brave. Inspired by Japan, the cherry blossom, or Sakura, and Japanese aesthetic: Rohan’s debut solo exhibition is a result of his love for photography and passion to experiment. In search of the Sakura, the artist visited Kyoto, Japan in 2015.

Intrigued by the colour palette of cherry blossom and its uncanny similarity with an infrared image, the young artist decided to assay with a coloured and converted infrared camera. Hanami’ exhibits 18 images. Using six ultra-projectors along with a moving image pieces, housed in the backdrop of print images, Diesel + Art’s latest show is a pioneering projection photography show in the city.
