In anticipation of the upcoming festival of lights, last evening witnessed the launch of the most exquisite Diwali installation of the season, Light Up Your Life, by Swarovski India in association with Palladium at a grand cocktail party in Mumbai.
Unveiled by Nathalie Colin, Creative Director and Executive Vice President, Consumer Goods Business, Swarovski Group, in the presence of Francis Belin, Senior VP, Swarovski Consumer Goods Business Asia-Pacific, Sukanya Dutta Roy, MD, Swarovski Consumer Goods Business India and Mr. Rajendra Kalkar, President (West), The Phoenix Mills Limited.
Inspired by lanterns, this alluring installation has been conceptualised by leading artist-designer and scenographer, Sumant Jayakrishnan. Talking about his creation he said, “What you light is what you see! And at ‘Deepavali’ it seemed very apt to represent the abstraction of a lantern as a ray of hope physically floating above the floor standing, yet tiered 3D abstraction of the quintessential thousand petalled Indian Lotus Mandala.
The lower tip of the Lantern installation and upper tip of the lotus floor standing installation are perfectly aligned with a small gap in between to create the dynamic of the future unknown.” It will be on display for a month, exemplifying the fusion of Indian heritage with modernity and will showcase the playfulness between light and darkness, which are key aspects of this concept.
Defining luxury and magnificence in a unique amalgamation, this installation has been specially crafted to complement the art and deco at Palladium while also redefining the finesse and uniqueness of crystals from Swarovski.
The excitement started early with fashionable guests stepping onto the red carpet in full force: Actors Tamannah Bhatia, Nimrat Kaur and Huma Qureshi attended the soiree, all adorning dazzling Swarovski jewellery. Also, joining in the celebrations Ellie Avram, Mandira Bedi, Rashmi Nigam, Manasi Scott, Ramona Arena, Yasmin Karachiwala, and Tanaaz Bhatia, all wearing creations from Swarovski.
Also, spotted were Ali Fazal, Ashwin Mushran, Vikram Raizada, designers Troy Costa and Amy Billimoria, Kehkashan Patel, Pria Kataria Puri, Gaurav and Pratima Bhatia and Tanaz Doshi. Keeping in line with Swarovski’s strong presence in India since 2000 (the brand has 40 boutiques in over 19 Indian cities), Nathalie Colin has designed an exclusive India Collection. Created specifically for the Indian market, the collection is inspired by the rich heritage of art and design, especially elements from historical landmarks.
Picking a leaf out of that era, the collection takes inspiration from their resplendent architecture which is famously seen in the Taj Mahal. Arches, domes and elaborate stone inlay patterns find their way into this exclusive jewellery collection. “I have a passion for jewellery and jewellery styling! It’s a real energy boost to select and mix jewellery pieces every morning for the look of the day and its different situations: work meetings, lunch with friends, a fashion event, a formal dinner…
I want to share this passion and help our consumers feel comfortable and confident about styling jewellery that fits the season’s trends and each woman’s style,” said Nathalie Colin. “This installation is an extraordinary piece of jewel to Palladium. Diwali is one of our biggest seasons to celebrate with our patrons, celebrating it with an exquisite Diwali installation sets an alluring tone to the festivities in the city.”, adds Mr. Atul Ruia, Managing Director, The Phoenix Mills Limited.
