He’s that guy who’s hit two double centuries in one day cricket matches and has become the hottest sensation ever. Rohit Sharma is the one of the most sought after cricketers in India.

Captain of the IPL team Mumbai Indians, this Mumbai lad is equally crazy about films as he is of cricket. In a candid chat with Filmfare, Rohit Sharma opens up about his love for Bollywood and Kareena Kapoor.
Crazy about films
I’m crazy about films. I get lured by Bollywood. I’ve grown up watching films of Madubala, Waheeda Rehman, Kishor Kumar, Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan. Hindi cinema is very close to my heart but I love Hollywood films as well. I love watching films whenever I get time. In fact, even when I’m travelling during matches, I try to catch up on latest releases. That breaks the monotony of my routine life and I get entertained too.
I like comedy
If cricket is my first love, then films are my second love. I like comedy and super hero movies. I think Rajpal Yadav is a great actor. Whenever I see him on screen; I burst into laughter. I just love him. I like watching films that compel you to think something and leave an impact on you. Veer- Zara, Hera Pheri, Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikander, The Avengers, Iron Man, The Dark Night Rises are some of my favourite movies, I can watch them again and again. I regard Veer Zara as my all time favourite film; its story, songs, music… everything is just too good. I also like Border a lot. It’s such a patriotic film, that you never get bored of watching it time and again. No matter how many times you watch it, you will like it every time you see it.
Once when I was shooting for a commercial, the director told me that I have a very photogenic face. He said that I should do acting and that he’d like to work with me. But honestly, I don’t have time. I don’t even get time for myself. At present, I can’t think of anything apart from cricket. This is just the beginning of my career. But, in future if I get a chance, I’ll think about it and I’d like to have Kareena Kapoor as my co-star. She’s my favourite I like all her films.
Films on sports
I’m happy that film makers are giving importance to sports and are considering it a subject worth making films on. Many films have been made on sports and people have liked them. The ones I like the most are Lagaan, Chak De, Goal (English Film), Goal 2, For Love of the Game, In wickets. Sports related films are such that they attract everyone. At the same time, they are message oriented too.

(Thinks for a while) There are many favourites. But I think Hrithik Roshan is a brilliant actor. He’s done few films, played different roles and has portrayed each character brilliantly. He is an amazing dancer too. His dancing cannot be compared to anybody. His expressions are great: nobody can beat him. He portrays emotions intensely. I think Saif is also a very good actor and I like Akshay Kumar’s work too. He is a natural actor. I liked Rowdy Rathore. And among actresses, I like Vidya Balan and Deepika Padukone. They both have delivered good films recently and are in the limelight. He does both action and comedy brilliantly. And in Hollywood I liked Paul Walker a lot.
I just now told you! I like Kareena Kapoor. She is very beautiful. I’ve always had crush on her. I’m crazy about her. I’ve seen all her films. Amongst Hollywood actresses, I find Megan Fox and Blake Lively attractive.
World of Music
I like music as much as I like films. But the kind of music I like to listen to also depends on my mood. I generally listen to hip hop, house and rap. I like Drake’s Started from the bottom, a lot. Oh yes! Nowadays I’m in love with the songs from Aashiqui. Recently, on my tour to West Indies I heard Gayle’s playlist, their beats are amazing. I’m also listening to Script’s Hall of the Fame, Sean Pauls- She Doesn’t mind.
Like I said, I like comedy films more. So, I like David Dhawan’s and Priyadarshan’s films a lot. They’re humorous. They can make anyone laugh. No matter what mood you are in, they change your mood and entertain you to the core. I’m also a big fan of Imtiaz Ali. His films are very romantic. He makes brilliant films. James Cameron too, is a brilliant film maker.

It rarely happens that I get a leisure time. I’m mostly on tours because of the matches. If by chance, I get free time, then I enjoy watching movies. Sometimes, I play play-station and at times listen to music. I have an awesome home theater. I call all my friends and we catch on movies we’ve missed. Watching films is my all time favourite pass time. I am a very private person. I’m very funny/ jocose guy. I do lot of leg pulling. People don’t come to know that I’m playing a prank on them because of my emotionless face. So I succeed in stretching the prank for a longer time. I love to be surrounded by wise people. I believe that the company of a wise man makes you a better person.
Romance in life
I don’t know whether I’m a romantic guy or not. So, it’s difficult to give an accurate answer to your question. But yes! I love watching romantic films. I think Veer-Zaara is the most romantic film. The songs Tere Liye Hum Hai Jiye touch my heart. I had a girl friend in college but I never got a chance to watch a film with her in the theater. And at present I’m single but I’d like to watch Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge with my girlfriend. -filmfare
