Here are six fashion mistakes that all women should avoid in order to save themselves from looking awkward at any occasion.
1. The bling overdose:
Haven’t you already worn tons of jewellery on your wedding functions? So why go overboard? There is no doubt in the fact that jewellery goes very well with Indian outfits. However, wearing too much of it can make you the laughing stock.
2. Skin show:
Rani Mukerji (right) was spotted at a recent function wearing a blouse which was so low-cut & uncomfortable that she had to hide it by draping the saree around We all have heard the phrase ‘if you have got it, flaunt it!’, but many young women find it difficult to decide how much is too much. Showing off cleavage or wearing very short tops might send a wrong message. On the other hand, if done in moderation, a little bit of skin show can uplift your look.
Smart Tip: Go for thongs whenever you wear tight-fitted dresses, so that you do not end up making the outline of your underpants visible.
3. Attempting to fit into the ‘misfit’
Rani Mukerji (left) ended up looking bulkier while trying to hide her curves in that loose gown, and Jwala Gutta (right) did no good either by highlighting her flabs in a tight dress It is important to feel comfortable in whatsoever you wear, however this should not come at the price of your appearance and vice versa.
Rather, there should be a perfect blend of style and comfort in your clothes. The foremost requisite is to know your correct size, especially while buying western wear. Ill-fitted, very tight or extremely lose clothes can completely destroy your look. Also Indian outfits such as kurtis also need to be well-fitted so as to enhance your body shape and hide the problem areas.
4. Not dressing according to the occasion:
It is of utmost importance to exhibit perfection in your attire completely from head to toe. So make sure you choose your attire as per the occasion. For example, you cannot appear for a puja in western wear or go to the beach in a saree.
5. Makeup overdose or no makeup:
A pancake face as flaunted by Genelia (left) will grab you attention in a wrong way, but so will a dull one as that of Kareena Kapoor (right) Putting makeup is normal for any woman, but it should be done keeping in mind the place you are at.
For example, wearing too much of makeup at home will get you all the attention but certainly not in a right sense. At the same time, wearing too less or no makeup at a formal function will not be a very good idea either. Also, make sure that you touch up your makeup so that your face does not look smudgy and dull by the end of the day.
6. Uncomfortable footwear:
Your footwear needs to be comfortable as you need to be in them for long hours. Also, wearing high heels at a beach is absolutely not acceptable.
