The literal meaning of Rajasthan is Rajgdhani.e. Capital, which before independence consisted of 21 principalities.

In the desert region, cooks use the minimum of water and prefer, instead, to use milk, butter milk and clarified butter. Gram flour is a major ingredient here.

Each region of Rajasthan has its own tongue of music and dance. The Ghoomer dance of Udaipurand Kalbeliya dance of Jaisalmer are world-famous. Folk music is a very important part of Rajasthan culture. A large variety of musical instruments and singing styles are used in the countryside.

  • Colorful Festivals of Rajasthan culture

Festivals are the major attractions for the people all over the world. As in its civilization Rajasthan is also rich in its festivals. These festivals bring rejoice, happiness and sense of unity among the people of Rajasthan.

Some well known festivals are,

  • The Brij Festival, takes place a few days before Holi, in this festival people performs Raslila dance, a dance about the story of radha and crishna.
  • Desert Festival, take place around the January and February by the tourist authorities.

Gangaur Festival is a most important local festival, during this festival, Goddess Gauri, the consort of Lord Shiva is worshipped. The festival is also the celebration of monsoon.
